Re: HT x-ray transformer cable insulation short

It seems like moving forward I should properly terminate the exposed cable ends. I found another post that contained information regarding this topic here. https://fusor.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4481&p=29040&hilit=Hv+cable+termination#p29040 When terminating the cable, is it preferred to keep ...

HT x-ray transformer cable insulation short

I purchased this large Hitachi medical x-ray transformer second hand about 1.5 years ago but have only just gotten around to experimenting with it. I have posted about this transformer a while ago inquiring about the terminals on the top of the transformer's case as they are not something I have see...

Re: Leak in vacuum system (diffusion pump?)

I will write this first build down as a learning experience. Luckily, most of the fittings and hoses I have were bought used and cheap so although it is money wasted, it is not as much as it could have been. However, I am still not certain that there is no leak in my diffusion pump as I still haven'...

Re: Leak in vacuum system (diffusion pump?)

Thanks for all the advice, I really do appreciate it. I'm going to work on reducing the amount of excess volume. One last question, when I bought the diffusion pump it came with everything you see in the picture from the diff pump to that large elbow piece coming through the desktop. Presumably, who...

Re: Leak in vacuum system (diffusion pump?)

Sorry for the confusion, my diffusion pump was not running. It was only my roughing pump. As Richard said, my vacuum wasn't strong enough for me to feel comfortable starting my diffusion pump. This is why I was confused to hear any noise coming from the diff pump body. Thanks for the advice so far, ...

Leak in vacuum system (diffusion pump?)

I am finishing up the assembly of my vacuum system and am currently testing all the equipment. Using just the roughing pump I was able to pull a minimum of 250 microns measured in my chamber. My roughing pump is a used Edwards e2m12 I got off of Ebay, which after cleaning was able to pull around 18 ...

Hitachi hv supply

Hi, I just recently got a retired x-ray transformer but I'm having trouble finding literature on it. I was wondering if someone could help me identify the connection ports. Also there seems to be something that resembles a filter sticking up (I realise it's not). Also I haven't gotten a chance to lo...

HV transformer yay/nay

Hi, i'm not sure if this is the place to do this but I was looking for a transformer and I found this http://r.ebay.com/h46fv0 . I was wondering if this looks sufficient. I only ask because there seems to be very little information online about it although I found the manufacturing company. The wind...
