Re: X-Ray Transformer Issue

Some good news. Today I attempted to remove the faulty coil from the transformer and was successful. Shortly after this, I tested the transformer and the other secondary still retains it's 350:1-volt ratio; also, the primary circuit no longer pulls massive current. I am hoping that this transformer ...

Re: X-Ray Transformer Issue

I was keeping the transformer in oil; but, instead of pulling a vacuum, I just let it soak for a couple months hoping it would do the job to remove any bubbles. Unfortunately, it seems that there was still some air in the windings which is what caused the short. I will be sure to pull a vacuum on th...

X-Ray Transformer Issue

Unfortunately, my high voltage X-Ray transformer has recently suffered some internal arcing in one of the secondary coils and no longer puts out its full voltage rating. This normally wouldn't have been too big of a problem as the other secondary coil is still in working order and reaching 30kV DC w...

Neutron Claim

Hello everyone, I am happy to say that on October 14th, I achieved fusion. I have been practicing operation with my deuterium system for about a month now as I had to wait for my bubble dosimeter to arrive and wanted to have some practice in for when I actually measured neutron radiation. I began th...

Re: Fusion Reactor Progress

Thanks John.

Although I don't have my bubble dosimeter detector yet, I wanted to get some practice with the deuterium system and decided to leak in some D2 after pumping the system down with the turbo.

Got some good shots:

Re: Fusion Reactor Progress

Thanks for the insight. Just need to finish a couple loose ends (neutron dosimeter and TC gauge) and I'll be ready for my first attempt..

Got some nicer demo fusion photos:

Re: Fusion Reactor Progress

I do have a TC gauge in the foreline, however, it reads in torr. After a 5 minute pump down on the mechanical pump it reads well below 0.1 torr. I know that this isn't accurate, I do plan to invest in a micron readout for the TC gauge. Hoping that I can fix my ion gauge issue as well so I can get so...

Re: Fusion Reactor Progress

John, I understand that the pressure in the photos provided look quite high, they were taken before I fixed a couple leaks, they were also taken only after a 1 minute pump down on the mechanical pump. I am sure that I am getting to at least 40 microns as I am able to turn the turbo pump on and have ...
