High Voltage Source

I've tried to find a high voltage power source on the internet. I've also contacted the local dentist to see if they had a x-ray transformer to spare. Unfortunately, this was all fruitless because I haven't been able to find one. Can anyone refer me to a website on which they procured their high vol...

Re: FAQ - Voltages needed in a fusor

Quick question: I thought the positive lead was supposed to be connected to the shell or the vacuum chamber. I thought this was supposed to strip the electrons from the deuterium (and, by extension, draw the positively charged deuterium to the negatively charged inner grid). Thanks

Safety

Hello All, Besides lead shielding for viewing port in the vacuum chamber, what other safety appliances do you need to operate a real fusion reactor (not a demo)? Is there something in particular I should do to keep the deuterium gas safe (beside the basic guidelines outlined on the MSDS). Thanks, Ai...

Re: Vacuum pump

Okay, I will. Sorry but I didn't know there was an FAQ section besides for the account (I'm new to this site). I found it now, though, so I will refer to it.

Negative and Positive Charges

For a real fusor, the chamber should be positively charged using a ballast resistor and the inner grid should be negative using a feedthrough right?
Thanks,
Aidan

Vacuum pump

Do you need both a mechanical pump and a diffusion pump to create a vacuum in the chamber, or will a two stage pump capable of 25 microns suffice?
Thanks,

Re: Deuterium Amount

Great, thank you! I will keep that in mind. Does the purity effect the amount of deuterium you have to add, or just the probability that the atoms will fuse? Furthermore, you mentioned that the cost decreases when doing electrolysis, but don't you have to buy a litre of heavy water to obtain a littl...
