Re: HEAS Conference photo album for sale

I've never attended HEAS, which is a regret of mine. Since I collect various oddities and rarities, from retrocomputing items to nuclear/atomic memorabilia, and am a fusioneer, I'm interested. I can wait a bit to see if there's interest in a bulk buy, but if not, I'm down for a hardcover copy at the...

Re: The "Hull Collection," several books recommended by Richard over the last decade-and-a-half.

..I would recommend the book "Inertial Electrostatic Confinement (IEC) Fusion" by Miley and Murali... COMPLETELY agree. I have a few other books I wanted to write about here on a rainy day, and this is one of them, along with a book called "Practical Vacuum Techniques" by Batzer and Brunner. Also a...

The "Hull Collection," several books recommended by Richard over the last decade-and-a-half.

About 7 years ago, after I entered the Neutron Club, I went through fusor.net's Books & References section and bought a bunch that Richard Hull recommended. Here's my quick review: "Nuclear Radiation Physics" by Lapp and Andrews. I have the 1948 edition, and agree with Richard that the earlier versi...

Re: Fusor Computer Modeling - Call for Contributions

There's a Turkish professor, Erol Kurt, who performs research into IEC devices. Here's a paper about ion trajectories: A stationary multi‐component cathode modeling and ion trajectories for an inertial electrostatic confinement fusion device Some of his work uses the finite element method (FEM) to m...

Plasma Physics Selected Reprints from 1963

I bought a set of 3 books on eBay: "Plasma Physics," "Instabilities and Large Amplitude Waves in Plasma," and "Small Amplitude Waves in Plasma," from a series of Selected Reprints published by the American Institute of Physics. The latter 2 are pretty advanced and difficult to read, but Plasma Physi...

Re: Making a stand

My fusor halves are held together by many bolts. I replaced 4 of them with ones that are a bit longer, and use 9 inch long, internally-threaded rods to make 4 legs. The 4 long bolts still use a nut like the rest, then I thread the rods on by hand; they are not very tight against the nut. There are 4...

Re: radioactive food?

A coworker and I bought a photo from eBay that was too good to resist. Then, we had it enlarged, and attached a printout of the description that was on the back of the original.

"Lt. Col. Belmont Evans, looking over piece of irradiated ham."

Re: Mark3 operation 3e-4 torr / quad ion source @ -40kV, 1mA

I don't have much to add... just wanted to say it's been interesting watching your progress in this thread. I think this got buried in a thread about my construction, but I based my grid off of yours. It's not water cooled, but I used your bending method with the slotted pipe. Also, my BTI bubble de...

Re: Electric Field 3D Modeling

I had an electromagnetics class that required a review of a research paper, so I picked one related to fusors. It's called "An inertial electrostatic confinement (IEC) device modeling and the effects of different cathode structures to the fields", and details the use of software called ANSYS Maxwell...
