Re: Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

It was a hard cover book, "Philo T. Farnsworth, The Father of Television", by Donald Godfrey.

Re: Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

I also brought in my multi-meter to check continuity of the various parts of the cathode. The wire mesh on the larger openings (at least the outer mesh, I didn't think to check the second layer of the inner mesh on the openings) were insulated from the main shell by what looked like ceramics. The me...

Re: Is It A Farnsworth... or a Hirsch (redux)

Hello Folks, It's been a while since I've last posted anything, but I lurk the forum semi-regularly. I just happened to be in Idaho this week on business, and had a day to kill before flying out, so I took a trip up to Rigby and stopped into the Farnsworth Museum. The gentleman volunteering at the d...

USM Fusion Group, Mark II Vacuum Progress Update

It's been a while since I have posted an update, mostly because we've only been able to work on the rig sporadically. We've made some progress in chasing down vacuum leaks and wanted to share some images. We had been getting progressively better vacuum, (granted, small degrees) but we couldn't pull ...

Re: Average Time for Epoxy to Out-gas?

Nick,
Thanks for the NASA link. Checked out Uline, the manufacturer of the epoxy I used; it wasn't listed.

Jeroen,
Thanks for the curing tip. I will try curing it at 100 deg. and compare the results.

Average Time for Epoxy to Out-gas?

Hello All, I have a quick question: How long does it take average two-part epoxy to stop (or lessen) most of its out gassing? Below is a photo of how we have setup our grid. I've insulated the stalk of the grid with the epoxy two-thirds of the way up to get past the collar in the chamber, which is c...

Archived - USM Fusion Group, Mark II First Light

We have first light on our new rig, the Mark II, though we are still struggling with the vacuum. It's all by eye so far, haven't setup the metering on it yet.
