Re: Demo Fusor - First Test Runs with Pictures

Great work! Reminds me very much of my first demo fusor! Are you planning to push for fusion?

Re: diffusion pump oils

<r>I don't know about Fomblin oil, but "Diffoil 20" oil, (sold as a mechanical pump oil) works great, and is really cheap.<br/> <br/> Also, I wouldn't recommend re-using old vacuum oil like that.<br/> <br/> Here's diffoil-20: <URL url="http://www.ulet.co.kr/product/Vacuum%20Fluids/fluids/20.htm"><LI...

Re: LENR Rossi et al

<t>The lady I originally talked to about it didn't seem to have a problem with it, although she doesn't actually work on that project specifically. I still have to run it by the people who are actually working on the "reactor." Hopefully I will get verification within a couple days as to whether or ...

Re: LENR Rossi et al

<t>I am very highly skeptical of E-Cat/LENR and Rossi's work, however, I have been invited to tour a reputable (I'm not sure if they would like me to disclose where) facility where they supposedly have an "E-Cat" reactor working.<br/> <br/> I intend to bring a good amount of radiation detection equi...

Re: Foreline traps?

<t>Foreline traps are certainly nice, but if you are just going for neutrons, I doubt it would be of much help. It seems (by rough estimation) 75% or so of people on fusor.net do not use foreline traps. Personally, I do not use one. <br/> <br/> Capacitive manometers are certainly nice, and would all...

Re: Science Fair Results

<t>Congratulations Mike,<br/> <br/> Very nice project from the looks of it, and I'd say there's a good likelihood you will make it ISEF.<br/> I went to ISEF with my fusor project last year, and here are some recommendations:<br/> <br/> 1. Re: Glassman HV Powersupply.

Just as a side note, I have one of these supplies, (ML series 30kV, 10mA), and it appears there is no current-based shutoff feature. I have had arcs with this supply before, and the supply hasn't ever shut down, which leads me to believe that there is no shutdown feature.

Re: Glassman HV Powersupply.

<r>I believe I use a ML series 30kV 10mA PSU with my reactor. I'll have to double check, but I am fairly positive it is the ML series. I have a copy of the manual, and I can email you some info about it. For the time being, here's a schematic that includes the pinout of the DB25 connector, which is ...

Re: The "wire" ion source

<t>Very, very nice ion source. I'm trying to decide what kind of source to put on my next reactor, and I've been debating between an anode layer or a DC magnetron source. Currently I'm leaning towards an anode layer source due to it's efficiency, although it's slightly more complex. <br/> <br/> Howe...

A Good Place for Part Scrounging

<r>I just came across this new website that seems like it would be a good place to look for cheap, used (mostly) electronics parts. Here's the URL: <URL url="http://www.junkbox.org/index.php">http://www.junkbox.org/index.php</URL> There are very good prices on some of the items (5 22000uF 440v caps ...
