Re: Double in background radiation - US, East Coast, Long Is

I came to revise!

You're 100% correct Richard, it's just strange to see backgrounds double for an hour or so due to weather conditions!

Hopefully counts will stay low forever :]

Double in background radiation - US, East Coast, Long Island

Approximately 20 minutes ago, my little PM1610 Polimaster starts with its audio and visual alarms. Background radiation for me has always been 009-010 µrem. Now it seems to have stabilized around 015-018 µrem. I’m sure it could be detector malfunction, but then I Googled and there seems to be a coup...

Re: Question to anyone familiar with Glassman Supplies

Hey Jake.

Anyone here with experience might be able to help you out. You might want to start by posting a model number, which should listed on the back plate of the HVPS.
You should also add a couple more images, like one showing the rear.

Re: Cosmic Rays?

Now the more I think of it, there's probably more of a chance of some random driving by with hot rocks that set off the detector than it being a weak cosmic event, but everythings always possible! I want to get another detector, this way the duality can rule out future possibilities of electronic bu...

Cosmic Rays?

So naturally like other radiological enthusiasts, I have a personal dosimeter I carry around with me for fun. It’s a Polimaster PM1610, measures gamma/xray. Anyways, I’ve had it beep at me a couple times, while at school, there’s a dental program and it detected them doing x-rays on the other side o...

Re: Our "Brave Thinker"

Seeing as how fusion is only 50 years away, hopefully the $100K will speed things up.

Spellman noise

Testing the power supply from 0--62kv it makes some odd noise from 45-54 -kv. Like a lose serpentine belt. What could this mean?
