Richard already told us about these guys, but here is an article about their efforts. Cheers to the VCU fusioneers.

I am glad the team got this process rolling. Future classes will hopefully refine the system.

I have suggested to Sama Bilbao y Leon, the department head, that they might include nuclear engineering students other than seniors to become involved at lower levels of the project in future. In this manner, a cadre of hands-on students will arrive at their senior efforts familiar with the fusor and fusion. Apparently, at this time, only Seniors are allowed to work the project.

Richard,
From the pictures it looks like they have graduated from needing your PNC-1. I am assuming the detector stuck in the cylinder of poly is either an He-3 or BF3. I wonder how their neutron numbers compare.

They had a 3He tube on backorder. Apparently, it came in. I assume they have used it. I asked for, but have received no report as of yet. If I do, I will post. Unfortunately all of those folks are graduated and are no longer at VCU. Most had jobs waiting with VA Dominion Power, which usually takes the bulk of the graduating classes. Thus, they have bigger fish to fry now and I may have to ask Sama for whatever report was written when I next see her at the ANS meeting.
