Thoughts on LENR ..

Hi Guys,

I know LENR has been discussed and debunked a hundred times on this forum, but every now and then it rises from the dead like a phoenix.

Some of you might be aware that I have strayed off on a tangent and developed alternative ideas about the laws of physics, so I had a bit of fun thinking about how my "Ground Potential" theory could explain cold fusion or LENR, and it actually looks plausible, to make this into an experiment should not be that hard.

I write up my thoughts here as they come to mind. http://groundpotential.org/forum/viewto ... 4&p=70#p70

Any thoughts?

Steven

I like your ideas, Steven. I would avoid tying them up together with cold fusion if I were you. Yours are bigger ideas that these scams.

Hi Chris,

Thanks, I appreciate your comment, and agree with you that everything about Andrea Rossi seems like a scam, so if it looks like I am endorsing him, then certainly not.

The latest report made me think, and there seems to be a plausible path for a proton to fall through consecutive energy levels to end up converting Ni-61 to Ni-62. It would be impossible to make this reaction happen directly, as the energy difference between the proton and the Ni-62 nucleus is far too large, but if a proton could somehow loose potential, by colliding with consecutively heavier nuclei, then maybe...

More thought needed...

Steven

The biggest flaw that I see in LENR is the strictly limited amount of energy release. Whatever is happening, (assuming something is happening) then it should not stop. The stop point is also interesting as the energy released in these reactions are on the order of chemical reactions and not nuclear reactions. There are also no typical nuclear traces.

Even if LENR worked, the heat rise is far too low to extract enough energy to produce electricity. Tenths of degree or even single degree temperature rises will never do it. You need super heated steam and for that, conventional nuclear reactions are required.
