Magnetic Mirror

Post by Scott Moroch »

This post shows a magnetic mirror built recently by Tim Koeth, Jay Howson, myself and Jimbo Krutzler. It was a fun project!

Everything was acquired surplus. More to come! Enjoy the photos.

That is a very nice looking set up, something I'd like to experiment with here in the UK. How many turns and what current did the coils take? Did you measure the magnetic field strength along the axis?

Nice little mirror demo system. Those coils look good for 50 amps or more.

Very impressive work Scott! Especially in the short amount of time you and the team had to build it. What kind of gasses are you planning on using (or have used)?

The HV Weekend looked like a blast and I feel bad that I couldn’t make it. Hopefully next year!
