Re: Hi from California

Welcome to the site. Just curious, but what kind of "general" experiments were you planning previously?

Re: Sources for Fusor Related Items

http://www.theoringstore.com/ They have every size and material imaginable. Good for weird sizes, custom apps, and rebuilding ancient mystery equipment like my 1/2 century old Edwards leak valve. Minimum quantities are usually 1 to 6 of each, but at pennies a piece, I usually buy the next sizes abov...

Re: Thin-Walled Acrylic Demo Fusor

These things can be surprisingly strong, though still not a bad idea to shield that thing. I have one of these that I got for $50 off ebay: https://www.belart.com/bel-art-f42029-0000-techni-dome-polycarbonate-vacuum-desiccator-with-1-gas-port-2-pp-shelves-22-x-22.html Although polycarbonate is stron...

Re: Vacuum Pump Muffler Homebuild

Here's my solution. It's a 2 micron water filtration cartridge. No oil mist is getting thru that. Had a bunch of these left over from a pond filter project- so it was "free". Plus a 2" PVC test cap glued on one end. Attached the cartridge output w/ o-rings to the pump's NW16 with a piece of plastic ...

Re: How much does deuterium purity matter?

One thought while reading Alex's post. If one would use a dummy gas initially, would it make better sense to use Ar and specifically not H? 1) As Richard has pointed out many times, much of our fusion is probably taking place as "beam on target" with D embedded in the chamber walls. Does it make sen...

Re: Shine - a real use for fusion, now!

Had a Po-Be neutron source for a while. ( A nuclespot- until the State of IA made me give my toy back). It made a very small, but measurable, amount of neutrons with my bubble detector and He3 tube. IMO, bombarding Mo with that small neutron source would produce so little Mo99 as to be undetectable ...

Re: Review article on beam/accelerator driven fusion?

"Can be found in the part The Physics of Successfull Fusion." Already looked at that. The biggest things that are a red flag for me are: One: He spends an awful lot of time trashing accepted physics and mainstream efforts at fusion for my taste. The difficulties and problems facing physics today are...

I hope you're kidding? Spent some time looking at that site. I'm afraid Sir Charles scores awfully high on the 'ol index: http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/crackpot.html
Commercially available fusion reactors that give off no harmful radiation by 2001? He's a little behind schedule.

Re: My hope for a power supply

What input to the transformer were you planning on, and how were you planning on re-arranging the multiplier?
